Day 5 – An incredibly productive day…
Today started off great and we were at the church right on time to start our devotion and worship time. Devotions were led by Gio today and the message was great. He spoke about how even though we are tired physically and emotionally, we are here to give our all and pour all of our love into the people of this village. Even though none of us have lost even an ounce of get up and go, he really inspired us to continue to give our best today and until the very last goodbye.
Kids camp started off with awesome worship and another great bible study. Today the kids seemed to really enjoy the games we played. The old school games that we all loved… Simon Says and Red Light – Green Light are definitely the crowd pleasers. Davon Day was another favorite, that is a game where we place a string on the ground and the children line up behind it and jump forward and backward. It was so amazing to see the way the most simple things grab their attention.
The first thing on the construction teams agenda was to take all the forms off of the foundation. They started laying the bricks to to the walls and were also able to weld 3 windows for the clinic. Last thing they finish was the septic system in the clinic. The best part of the day was when they finished up laying the final bricks for the church… what a productive day!
Dr. Thomas and the rest of the team saw another 70 people today at the medical clinic. One little girl was brought down from the VBS with a high fever and attended to. Another little girl had a severe tooth infection that our dentist was able to help with. We were so taken back when after talking with most of the patients, we realized most of them are not aware of their accurate age. We felt so appreciative to be able to be a part of bringing these people a way to receive medical treatment and simple things that we all take for granted back home… I know I speak for the whole team when I say we will certainly look at things differently when we return.
Another GREAT day…
